Durham police investigate a shooting near the downtown bus terminal on Thursday afternoon.

This marks the third shooting in Durham within a 24-hour period.

Around 3:44 p.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 500 block of West Pettigrew Street.

Their investigation revealed that an argument took place between a group of males at the bus terminal.

The argument escalated, and the group moved across the street to the railroad tracks, where shots were exchanged.

"I pray, and I hope that nothing happens to me," Lisa Greene said.

Lisa Greene comes to the Durham transit station every day.

"I’m glad that i wasn’t here. I didn’t want to see any kind of action like that," Greene said.

At the moment, there are no reports of injuries from gunfire.

However, an unoccupied vehicle parked at the bus terminal was struck by bullets.

Additionally, EMS personnel treated one person for minor injuries sustained during the incident, likely from falling during the commotion.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and no further details can be released currently.

Hours later, a woman arrived at the hospital after a shooting at McDougald Terrace.

Bullet holes were found in a nearby home and car, fortunately unoccupied.

However the damage threatens what could have been more victims.

Durham Mayor Leonardo Williams talked about recent gun violence in a council work session Thursday afternoon.

In a shooting near Duke Manor on Wednesday night, one person was killed and three others were injured.

Police arrested Yeltsin Cinto Orozc, 29, in connection with the incident.

Two additional shootings from that night remain unsolved.
