Shots fired into Winston-Salem police office, suspect in custody

Shots were fired into the Winston-Salem police District 1 office on North Point Boulevard Monday afternoon. Winston-Salem police said a car chase ensued after, leading officers to Hanes Park.

Officers said there was an exchange of gunfire with officers. The suspect is on their way to the hospital, according to police.

No officers or civilians were hurt.

Police are asking drivers to take alternate routes in the West End area past Hanes Park.
