Shots fired during high school football game in Charlotte

Several gunshots were heard going off during a football game at Julius Chambers High School in Charlotte on Friday night.

Players, coaches and officials could be seen running off the field after shots were heard. The game between Chambers and Glenn was called. It's not known if there are any injuries.

HighSchoolOT correspondent Steven Schlink was covering the game and had a first-hand account.

"We first heard gunshots ring out," Schlink said. "As soon as we heard that, you could see the crowd begin running. Myself and a few others ran into the press box, waited a few minutes, we understood that we were cleared to go so we came back out and I started to pack up because they called the game. And that's when we heard somebody yell that he was coming back and about two more shots rang out after that."

An officer told Schlink after the game that they had not seen or heard of any injuries. It's not known exactly where the shots were fired from.

This is the third shooting in North Carolina at or near a high school this week. There were shootings at high schools in Wilmington and Winston-Salem previously.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Police said they're searching for a specific vehicle in connection with the shooting.

Chambers was formerly known as Vance High School.
