A Sharpsburg woman has been charged with murder.

Tammy Teresa Etheridge was arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of Quentin Dortch, according to the Wilson County Sheriff's Office.

Etheridge, 48, was charged with first-degree murder on Monday morning.

Authorities responded to a stabbing on Martin Luther King Jr. Circle in Wilson on Sunday at 10:35 p.m. They found Dortch, 47, had been stabbed in the chest. He was declared dead at the scene.

The sheriff's office said Dortch and Etheridge had an on-and-off dating relationship with prior domestic violence occurrences. Etheridge reported Dortch banging on her door at the time of the stabbing.

Etheridge was taken to the Wilson County Detention Center and is under a no bond status.
