Sheriff's office: Unborn child dies, 3 others hurt after shots fired into car along I-95 in Cumberland Co.

An unborn child died and three others were shot on Saturday on Interstate 95 in Cumberland County.

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office said someone shot into a black 2023 Toyota Camry, which six people were inside of at the time. Deputies responded to Cape Fear Medical Center just before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

The shooting occurred on I-95 North near Exit 40, according to the sheriff's office. The names of those involved were not released.

Police said two people shot were treated and released with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect vehicle is possibly a newer, light-colored Chevrolet sedan.
