Sheriff's office: Man connected to cross-country human trafficking operation arrested in Wilmington

A man that authorities say trafficked a person across the country was arrested in Wilmington, according to the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Per the release, the NHCSO, FBI and Wilmington Police Department assisted the Coastal Carolina Human Trafficking Task Force in its apprehension of 48-year-old Ryan Klinger.

Authorities in southeastern North Carolina had been alerted by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division that “a possible human trafficking situation that occurred in South Carolina that may have transitioned to Wilmington, North Carolina.”

“The task force located Klinger and recovered the victim in his custody. Klinger trafficked the victim across state lines from the West Coast to the East Coast in an RV,” the sheriff’s office states.
