Severe weather likely Wednesday evening

Wednesday evening brings storms to areas south and east of the Triangle, and WRAL meteorologist Aimee Wilmoth said the area could see a few thunderstorms.

The chance for severe weather will be greatest in the evening, and damaging winds and heavy rain would be the main concerns.

But any severe storms should stay south of the Triangle, Wilmoth said.

"I think it's going to be pretty quiet for us," she said. "But we're still watching for some storms later in the evening."

Evening temperatures remain hot, in the 80s.

"It's going to continue heating up around here, with 93 as the high on Thursday and then 95s all the way through Monday," Wilmoth said. "It's going to be hot and humid over the weekend and into next week.”
