September is the 'M.A.I.N.' event in downtown Raleigh

Downtown Raleigh is hopping and popping all year round, but September is an especially full month.

There are numerous upcoming events themed around the acronym M.A.I.N., which stands for music, art, innovation and noise. These include the African American Cultural Festival, Spark-Con, the Bluegrass Festival and Hopscotch Music Festival.

On Friday, organizers of 11 community events will hold a news conference to talk about why September is Raleigh's "main event."
