Second Marine pleads guilty in Army nurse's death

A Camp Lejeune Marine was sentenced Thursday to prison for his role in the slaying of an Army nurse in 2008, authorities said.

Lance Cpl. Kyle Alden, 23, pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of first-degree murder, second-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson. He was sentenced to 44 to 62 months in prison.

The charred remains of Holley Wimunc, 24, a nurse at Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, were found July 13, 2008, in a shallow grave in a wooded area near Camp Lejeune. Her apartment in Fayetteville was found ablaze three days earlier, and she was nowhere to be found.

An autopsy determined that she had been shot and dismembered before her remains were burned and wrapped in an air mattress.

Her husband, Marine Cpl. John Wimunc, 24, pleaded guilty last week to first-degree murder, second-degree arson and conspiracy to commit arson in her death. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole.
