A second man was arrested Wednesday in connection with the death of a 28-year-old Fayetteville woman earlier this month.

Authorities said Nekeshia D. Washington was approached at her home in the 1600 block of Slater Avenue on July 16 and shot by a suspect who fled the area.

Akeen D. Hair, 22, of the 2300 block of Cattail Circle, was charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and a probation violation.

Hair was being held without bond at the Cumberland County Detention center.

Akeem McIver, 23, was previously charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon after he surrendered to police over the weekend.

Police did not say what linked McIver or Hair to Washington’s murder.

Police said the shooting remains under investigation and additional arrests are possible.
