Second Ga. man dies after accident at NC waterfall

Davis Zinsenheim, 22, of Marietta, Ga., and his friend, 23-year-old Joseph Hopkins, also of Marietta, died after slipping and falling at Ravens Rock Falls at Lake Toxaway.

A Georgia Southern University student has died after slipping at a North Carolina waterfall on Tuesday.

Davis Zinsenheim, 22, of Marietta, Ga., and his friend, 23-year-old Joseph Hopkins, also of Marietta, were visiting friends at Ravens Rock Falls at Lake Toxaway. According to the Transylvania County Sheriff's Office, the men were hiking when Hopkins slipped an fell. Zinsenheim died at the scene after falling about 100 feet while trying to reach Hopkins, who had fallen about 40 feet to a ledge.

Hopkins died from his injuries Wednesday at a hospital in Greenville, S.C.

Zinsenheim was a student at Georgia Southern in Statesboro. Family members say the two men had been best friends for years. They graduated together from Pope High School in Cobb County in 2012.

A service for Zinsenheim will be held Saturday at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, Ga.
