The region's outdoor pools are opening for the season starting this Memorial Day weekend. And some of the region's spraygrounds already are open for water fun.

What's open now or in the next few days? Some seasonal pools in Raleigh; most spraygrounds in Durham; the splash pad at Hill Ridge Farms in Youngsville; the Wake Forest and Knightdale pools, among others.

I've updated our public pool database for the 2015 season. It lists 34 pools and spraygrounds in the region where the public is welcome and a membership is not required. New this year: The database can be read on your mobile devices.

I've added two that are under construction, but aren't open yet. They include the South Park sprayground in Fuquay-Varina, which is scheduled to open later this summer. A sprayground at Jack Smith Park in Cary is slated to open in 2016.
