Missing Raleigh DJ returns home
A missing Raleigh disc jockey returned home safely Wednesday after disappearing three days earlier.
Celina Moorer-Smith said her husband, Rachid Smith – who goes by the name DJ Kool Sheed – was home. She said the couple had not yet spoken about what transpired since Smith told her he was going for a walk Sunday evening and did not return.
Smith's wife, along with family and friends, made an impassioned plea Tuesday for information about his disappearance, which happened after he celebrated his birthday over the weekend. The Wake County Sheriff's Office was investigating the incident as a missing persons case.
Moorer-Smith was especially concerned because her husband left with no cash or identification. The couple have been married for 19 years and have two young daughters.
Smith is a former DJ for K97.5 FM in Raleigh who now works private events and promotions. The radio station had posted a notice on its website about Smith's disappearance, asking for help in finding him.
