A search is ongoing for an inmate that apparently escaped the Wake Correctional Center sometime on Wednesday.

Gerrhon D. Mills was last seen at the facility in Raleigh on Wednesday afternoon, according to officials. Mills is 32, 5-foot-8 and 181 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He is originally from Wake County and is serving a 17-year, 8-month sentence as a habitual felon after he was convicted in Wake County. He was admitted to prison on Dec. 1, 2011 and scheduled for release on Nov. 13, 2025.
