Sanford shelter wants you to run, even sleep to support animal adoption

Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption in Sanford is approaching the annual Clear the Shelters event Saturday with a unique fundraiser.

The shelter's annual Run for Their Lives 5K, 10K and 15K races on Saturday, Aug. 26, allow joggers a tour of Sanford and its greenway as a way to support pets looking for that fur-ever home. There are also virtual and sleep options for those who can't run on Aug. 26.

Registration is available on-site beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Kiwanis Park in Sanford.

The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. The 10K begins at 8:15 a.m. Participants can choose to run both to earn a "challenge" medal.
