Sanford man arrested, charged in shooting death last Sunday

A Sanford man is facing first-degree murder and other charges in connection with a shooting death last Sunday.

Jayden Zyonne Rodney Hodges, 18, of 2123 Hearthstone Drive in Sanford was arrested and charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Hodges is charged in the shooting death of Eric Andre Thompson Jr. and the shooting of Jessie Yvonne Ray. Hodges was taken into custody without incident at his home. He was taken before a magistrate where he was placed in the Lee County Jail under no bond.

He was scheduled to have a first appearance in Lee County District Court on Thursday.
