Sandbox Band sings 'O Christmas Tree'

Sandbox, the local and very fun band for kids and families, has a couple of big holiday concerts coming up this month.

The group will be part of Morehead Planetarium and Science Center's holiday concert series. Their show is 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday, at the Chapel Hill planetarium. The band will play from its Christmas album, Snow Day!, "under the stars" of the planetarium.

Get there at 6 p.m. so kids can make their own instrument with help from Kidzu Children's Museum staff. They'll be able to play it during the concert. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for kids and students. Click here for details and to get your tickets.

The band also will play a special holiday concert at Garner Performing Arts Center. It features music, lunch and a visit with Santa.

Lunch with Santa and the Sandbox Band is 11 a.m., Dec. 15, at the center at 742 W. Garner Rd. Tickets are $10.

Sandbox will take their unique twist on holiday classics while audience members join in to sing holiday favorites such as "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer" and "Jingle Bells." Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there. Your ticket includes a box lunch.
