The City Manager of Rocky Mount resigned Thursday night.
According to Rocky Mount officials, City Manager Keith Rodgers will be taking “administrative leave,” and Peter Varney will be sworn in as the Interim City Manager.

Keith Rogers Jr. took office as Rocky Mount's city manager in March 2023. Prior to his time in Rocky Mount, Rogers spent four years managing the town of Dumfries, Virginia.
Rodgers took over in the full-time position in Rocky Mount for Rochelle Small-Toney, who went on leave in January 2022 and retired one month later.
It is unclear why Rodgers resigned.
