Thousands followed the story of 6-year-old Faye Swetlik, who was abducted and killed earlier this month. Many shared her story online and watched events unfold, hoping for a happy ending.

Sadly, Faye was found dead three days after disappearing from her front yard.

Now family, friends and supporters are working to honor her memory.

Around the world, people are remembering Faye by painting rocks in her honor.

The woman who founded "Rocks for Faye" said she found out the girl had collected rocks and was inspired to use rocks as a tribute to Faye's life.

She started a Facebook page and a hashtag #RocksForFaye. Now, rocks are being painted across the globe.

Anyone can take part by painting a cheerful rock and using the hashtag.

Also in South Carolina, thousands of people attended a memorial service for Faye. Her family asked everyone to wear bright colors, especially pink and purple, to memorialize the bubbly spirit of the little girl.
