Whether you are running or watching, there are some great options in downtown Raleigh before and after Sunday's Rock 'n' Roll Marathon and Half Marathon.

Healthy options:

Happy and Hale, 443 Fayetteville St. - This juice bar offers great salads and healthy food to keep you fueled up before the big race.

Sitti, 137 S. Wilmington St. - Modern Lebanese dishes in a great setting.

Fiction Kitchen, 428 S. Dawson St. - This all-vegetarian restaurant features some of the tastiest dishes in town.

Irregardless, 901 W. Morgan St. - A great selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes made from locally sourced ingredients.

Raleigh Raw 7 W. Hargett St. - This juice and smoothie bar is also serving up healthy cuisine.

b. good, 555 Fayetteville St. - Located in Charter Square, this franchise focuses on healthy takes on fast food staples.

Southern cuisine:

Beasley's Chicken and Honey, 237 S. Wilmington St - Chicken and Waffles and pimento mac and cheese are some of our favorites at this restaurant. Their Sunday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Rye Bar and Southern Kitchen, 500 Fayetteville St. - Enjoy some Barbecue Shrimp and Grits or Pork Belly after the race at this restaurant located in the Raleigh Marriott City Center.

Italian restaurants:

Jimmy V's Osteria and Bar, 420 Fayetteville Street – Overlooking City Plaza, this is a great place for locals and visitors alike to grab some Italian favorites. They're open 6:30 a.m.-11 p.m. on Sundays.

Gravy, 135 Wilmington Street – They offer brunch, lunch and dinner menus of traditional Italian-American favorites. Their Sunday hours are 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5 p.m.-10 p.m.

Spaghetti Dinner - Raleigh Times and its sister-restaurant, Gravy, are hosting this dinner Saturday night 6-9 p.m. They are shutting down a portion of Hargett Street for it

Mexican restaurants:

Jose and Sons, 327 West Davie St., Suite 102 – Their Sunday brunch from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. features Mexican food with a Southern twist, like Chicharron and Waffles. Maybe have a celebratory Bloody Mary or margarita while you're at it!

Dos Taquitos Xoco, 410 Glenwood Ave. – In the trendy Glenwood South neighborhood, this quirky restaurant serves delicious and filling Mexican food. On Sundays they're open 11 a.m.-11 p.m., and they now do a Sunday brunch.

Cafes and coffee shops:

Joule, 223 South Wilmington St.– Grab a quick coffee or sit down for brunch. Their menu includes yummy choices like a North Carolina sweet potato hotcake and BLT sandwich on toasted house sourdough bread. They are open 7 am.-10 p.m.

Cafe de los Muertos, 300 West Hargett Street – A coffee shop located on the ground floor of the Hue building. Their menu, focused on local options, includes coffee, sandwiches and salads. Sunday hours are 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

American restaurants:

The Remedy Diner, 137 East Hargett St. – A cozy restaurant with a great selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes. Try the "No Heuvos" Rancheros or the quiche of the day. They are open on Sunday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. with brunch served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.

Chuck's, 237 South Wilmington St. – If you're craving a delicious burger, this is the place. Get an order of fries to share with the "No Comeback Sauce." Stop by on Sunday from 11:30 a.m.-10 p.m.

Food and beer:

Trophy Brewing, 827 W. Morgan St. - This brewery has great beer and delicious pizza.

Busy Bee Cafe, 225 South Wilmington St. – They have great food and a great beer selection that changes constantly. Try their features or just stick with our favorite – their tater tots. They're open 11 a.m.-2 a.m. every day.

The Raleigh Times, 14 East Hargett St. – A great place, day or night, for food and beer. If you're visiting from out of town, this is a good place to hang out and see some Raleigh history. They are open every day from 11:30 a.m.-2 a.m.
