Robeson woman shot in head while driving

A Red Springs woman was in critical condition Sunday after being shot in the forehead while driving, Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said.

Crystal Cummings, 27, was driving along the 800 block of Milk Dairy Road toward N.C. Highway 71 when someone shot at her around 6:45 p.m. Friday, Sealey said. A bullet came through the driver's side window and struck her.

After Cummings was shot, her vehicle veered off the side of the road. She was transported to Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton for treatment.

Multiple people witnessed the shooting, and investigators are following up on leads, Sealey said.
