Robeson County man charged with first-degree murder after body found behind home

A 36-year-old man was charged with murder after a woman's body was found behind a Robeson County home.

Cedrick Locklear, of Rowland, was charged with first-degree murder, concealing/failing to report a death and  altering/destroying and burning of personal property.

Deputies said they received a report on Tuesday that a woman, who had yet to be reported missing, may have been murdered. During the investigation, deputies sound a body was found in the 2100 block of Cabinet Shop Road in Rowland.

The woman's identity is being withheld until law enforcement can confirm 100 percent who the woman is, Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said. The body was sent to the North Carolina Medical Examiner's Office for identification and cause of death.

Deputies did not release the relationship between Locklear and the woman.

Locklear is being held without bond at Robeson County Detention Center.
