Authorities confirmed the identity of a 28-year-old man found earlier this month in a car at the bottom of the Roanoke River.

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department confirmed WRAL News' report that Keyon West's remains were found in the water by U.S. Highway 158 in Weldon.

Investigators said West's death is part of a homicide investigation.

The autopsy shows West died from a gunshot wound.

West was one of three men charged in a quadruple homicide in Enfield in 2017 but who later had their charges dropped after spending four years in jail. West reunited in February with his family.
