The Halifax County Sheriff's Office arrested a Roanoke Rapids man on burglary and assault charges Saturday.

Brock Eugene Sampson, 29, faces charges of first-degree burglary, assault inflicting serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, felony conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He has been released under a $20,000 bond.

Investigators said they expect to make additional arrests in the case.

According to state Department of Correction records, Sampson moved to North Carolina after being placed on probation in Maryland for possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. He was convicted of larceny and possessing goods in Halifax County in 1998.
