WRAL anchor Renee Chou's daughter, Elsa, loved making this dish at summer cooking camp at Flour Power. She was kind enough to share it with us!

"I LOVE apple desserts and this is so amazing. It’s good right out of the oven and even cold," Renee said on her Facebook page, alongside some pretty tasty photos!

Recipe: Apple Dumplings (courtesy of Flour Power)

Ingredients: (8 servings – 2 each)

2 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored

2 (10oz) cans refrigerated crescent roll dough

1 cup butter

1 1/2 cups white sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 (12oz) can Sprite or lemon lime soda

Directions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

2. Cut each apple into 8 wedges and set aside.

3. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.

4. Roll each apple wedge in crescent roll dough starting at the smallest end.

5. Pinch to seal and place in the baking dish.

6. Melt butter in a small saucepan and stir in the sugar and cinnamon. Pour over the apple

dumplings. Pour soda over the dumplings.

7. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
