GlaxoSmithKline Science in the Summer

Registration for GlaxoSmithKline's free summer science program in North Carolina begins next week.

Science in the Summer for rising second graders to eighth graders offers free science programs at libraries and other public venues in nine counties in this part of the state.

It's a week-long, half-day program for rising second to fifth graders. Kids entering sixth, seventh and eighth grades can take part in a three-day program. This year's theme is chemistry. The programs are taught by certified teachers.

My older daughter has taken part in this program for the last two years and has really enjoyed it. I've been really pleased with the activities and instruction (especially considering the cost ... free!).

Click here for more information about the program. It is administered in North Carolina by Morehead Planetarium and Science Center, but is not related to the Chapel Hill institution's summer camps (they are completely separate).
