Recalled chicken salad served at Womack Army Medical Center

Fort Bragg officials on Wednesday warned that Womack Army Medical Center recently served chicken salad that was subsequently recalled by the manufacturer because of possible bacterial contamination.

Officials said no one has reported getting sick since consuming dishes made with Reser's Fine Foods chicken salad. Reser's issued a Oct. 24 for a number of meat products sold in 27 states after testing determined the possibility of cross-contamination with listeria monocytogenes, which can cause food poisoning.

Medical center officials said the dining facility served about 40 portions of the chicken salad Oct. 23 and 24 in the main dining room, grab-and-go locations and to two patients.

Anyone who may have consumed the chicken salad is advised to call a physician.
