RDU Experiences Diverted Flight, Power Outage

An Americans Airline flight headed to Norfolk, Va., made an unscheduled landing Thursday morning at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

The plane was forced to land short of its destination because some runway lights weren't working at Norfolk International Airport, officials said.

In an unrelated matter, some customers met unexpected long lines in the RDU ticketing areas because parts of Terminal C lost power. A spokeswoman said the airport was testing a back-up generator when the power went out.

As of 8:15 a.m., all power had been restored.
