People gathered at North Carolina State University on Tuesday to watch the rare and stinky "Corpse Flower" bloom.

The flower has only bloomed three times since 2016, NC State horticulturists said. The bloom is majestic — it can be more than 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. That's one of the largest "flowering structures" in the plant kingdom, experts say.

Blooms only happen every 3 to 7 years. The corm at NC State weighs around 60 pounds, according to experts.

Fewer than 1,000 Amorphophallus titanum remain in the wild, according to the US Botanic Garden.
