Raleigh synagogue has new space

As the Jewish community celebrates High Holy Days this week, including Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, one group has something extra to celebrate.

Beth Shalom Synagogue on Yates Mill Pond will hold services in a new sanctuary.

The synagogue previously borrowed space for services.

“Having a place that you see that is a 'real place,' as our kids say, and established makes you feel a little bit more at home,” Rabbi Ariel Edery said.

Edery expects more than 400 visitors to the synagogue this week.
