The city of Raleigh announced Thursday that its annual fireworks show would be moving to Dorothea Dix Park.

Typically, Raleigh's fireworks show is held at NC State's Carter-Finley Stadium.

Dix Park's gates will open at 6 p.m. and fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m., according to a release from the city of Raleigh.

The event will feature music and lawn games. A free shuttle will take guests to Dix Park from the Moore Square parking deck in downtown, the Red Hat parking deck in downtown and Centennial Campus.

Free event parking is available in designated NC State parking lots and decks on campus.

Alcohol, smoking and vaping are not allowed at the event.

“On behalf of the Dix Park Conservancy, we welcome the entire community to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day in America’s next great park–in our own backyard," Dix Park Conservancy President and CEO Janet Cowell said. "We’re looking forward to a long tradition of fireworks, concerts, festivals and celebrations of all sizes here at Dix Park."
