Community swimming pools in Raleigh are struggling to fill jobs as they get ready to open for the Memorial Day weekend.

It's an issue affecting city pools in Raleigh and could impact your holiday plans.

The city said they're moving forward with the plan to open Saturday despite not having enough staff. That means pools like the one at Lake Johnson are going to be impacted.

From May 29 to June 11, several Raleigh pools will operate on a modified schedule as noted on the city's website.

There are roughly 40 lifeguard positions that still need to be filled. The American Lifeguard Association says teens are not as interested in being lifeguards.

At least eight Raleigh pools could see limited capacities and hours of operation.
