Raleigh police detain man after search

Police detained a man after a search in southern Raleigh Monday night.

Residents called 911 around 10:30 p.m., saying that they had seen a man with a gun in the area of Tryon and Lake Wheeler roads, police said. Officers searched on the ground, while a state Highway Patrol helicopter searched from above for about two hours.

Police found the man near Lineberry Drive. He was sent to WakeMed for an evaluation.

No one was hurt in the incident.
