Armed man on the run after escaping custody near Green Castle Townhomes, police say

Raleigh police are actively searching for an armed subject they say escaped custody near Green Castle Townhomes.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, officers responded to the 3900 block of Green Road after receiving reports a man with a gun was in the neighborhood.

Police say a struggle began while officers were taking him into custody and the man escaped, adding an officer fired his gun and struck a home during the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Residents are encouraged to stay inside and report suspicious activity to 911.
