A Raleigh man was arrested Tuesday and charged with homicide from a January incident in Atlanta.

Lloyd Salley, 57, of Futura Lane, was charged with the crime. A fugitive task force member said Salley allegedly committed murder during a fatal shooting on Jan. 27 at a store in northwest Atlanta.

Eric Moffett died in the shooting. Moffett was 32 years old.

U.S. Marshals tracked Salley to Raleigh where he was arrested Tuesday morning at a relative's home. Neighbors were surprised at all the commotion his arrest caused.

"I woke up to a bunch of cop cars, sirens and radio chatter," said Charles Benson, who lives nearby. "It's always surprising, especially when you don't know someone only so much and you find something out like that."

The arrest came after Atlanta police investigated the case for months, releasing surveillance pictures from the store on Marietta Street. On March 5, police put out a warrant for Salley’s arrest as someone recognized him in the store photos, ambushing a man.

Police say Salley waited for Moffett to come out of the bathroom at a downtown cafeteria before firing a fatal shot.

"It's always surprising," Benson said. "Especially when you know someone only so much and you find something out like that."

Salley may be subject to extradition to Georgia to face the homicide charge. Salley is expected to face a judge on Wednesday.
