Raleigh man arrested, charged with bringing stolen gun to elementary school

York Elementary School locked down, man charge for having gun on campus

Authorities in Wake County charged a Raleigh man with bringing a stolen gun onto a school campus on Wednesday.

According to York Elementary School Principal Kate Williams, the school went into code yellow briefly on Wednesday afternoon due to an altercation between two adults in the carpool lane.

The school took students inside and placed the school under a Code Yellow lockdown while law enforcement investigated.

Police took one of the men, 27-year-old Jaquan Stinchcomb, into custody after they discovered a concealed firearm on him.

Police charged Stinchcomb with possession of a stolen firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a gun on educational property.

Williams thanked parents, students and staff for remaining patient and calm during the incident.

“The safety of everyone on our campus is our campus is our top priority,” Williams said in a letter. “We appreciate the quick action of our staff and the quick response and assistance from law enforcement.”
