Raleigh man, 18, charged with attempted rape

An 18-year-old Raleigh man has been charged with second-degree attempted rape, according to an arrest warrant.

An 18-year-old Raleigh man has been charged with second-degree attempted rape, according to an arrest warrant.

Jack Robert Cyr was also charged with second-degree sexual offense. He was being held in the Wake County jail under a $500,000 bond.

The alleged incident happened on Sept. 2, when Cyr was still 17 years old.

Phyllis Stephens, spokeswoman for the Wake County Sheriff's Office, said that there was no threat to the community, but declined to provide more details in order to protect the victim's identity.
