Raleigh homeowners can get up to $90K for repairs

Raleigh homeowners who meet certain criteria can qualify for up to $90,000 to be used for home repairs.

Raleigh homeowners who meet certain criteria can qualify for up to $90,000 to be used for home repairs.

The money must be spent to fix issues that present a threat to the life, safety or health of the occupants to include repairs to roofs, plumbing, electrical or heating systems and more.

Loans come from the city's Homeowner Rehabilitation Program and can be forgiven – the repairs made at no cost to the homeowner – so long as they continue to live there for five years.

To qualify, homeowners must be

  • Currently own and occupy the home to be rehabilitated
  • Continue to occupy the home as your primary residence after the work is complete
  • Have owned the home for at least five years
  • Be 62 years or older OR have a disability

Homes must

  • Be located within the City limits of Raleigh
  • Be a single-family detached home, townhome, or condominium unit
  • Have three or more severely deteriorated systems (such as roof, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or structural)
  • Have a property value of $371,000 or less (effective July 1, 2023)

Loans are available to:

  • single-person households with an annual income up to $39,700
  • two-person households with income up to $45,350
  • families of three with income up to $51,000
  • families of four with income up to $56,65
  • families of five with income up to $61,200
  • families of six with income up to $65,750
  • families of seven with income up to $70,250
  • families of eight or more with income up to $74,800

Applications are open from October 16 to November 3.

People can apply online or via mail.

Paper applications are available for pick-up at Chavis Community Center at 505 Martin Luther King Blvd. and should be mailed by the deadline to:
