If you're headed to the beach this summer and need a good read, the Raleigh City Museum is holding its annual Back to the Beach Book Sale this week.

The sale, which features everything from light reads to more serious works, started this weekend and runs through Saturday. The downtown Raleigh museum's hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday.

Books range in price from 25 cents to $10. You'll also find CDs, DVDs and other media formats, along with mounted photographs from past exhibits. There are some books for kids at last check. Proceeds from the sale benefit the museum.

The museum on Fayetteville Street also is collecting used books (call 919-832-3775 for more information).

Admission to this downtown Raleigh museum is free and it's a great place to spend some time. Right now, you'll see exhibits on Raleigh's media and kit homes, among others. They offer regular programs for families too.

Go to the museum's website for details.
