Rain to continue into early Sunday before clearing begins
It was a rainy Saturday around the state and, especially, the Triangle.
Rainy conditions were the case through Saturday and were expected to continue into early Sunday as things finally begin to dry out and the sunshine returns.
Showers started during the Raleigh Christmas Parade, picking up just as Santa arrived downtown.
Spotty showers continued through Saturday afternoon, with more moderate rain moving in later in the night. Conditions improved and the chance for fog was much less than during the morning and earlier part of the day. Fog shouldn't be an issue moving into Sunday.
It's all part of a powerful storm churning slowly by southern New England. Snow was a possibility for the higher elevation areas and across northern New England, with 6 to 12 inches likely in northern Maine, according to the New York Times.
Sunday will be sunnier, with partly cloudy skies and warmer temperatures. The high could read the upper 50s.
Into the work week, temperatures could reach the high 60s with no rain expected.
