The annual Race for the Cure, the biggest fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Foundation's Triangle to the Coast chapter, has a new home in 2016. The 20th annual race will be run in Research Triangle Park.

"Construction of Hillsborough Street compelled us to find a new location," said Bill Roberts, board president of Komen NCTC.

"RTP is the home of dreamers, believers, planners and creators," Roberts said. "We will tap into this inspiration as we move closer to our promise to save lives and end breast cancer forever."

The 2016 race is scheduled for June 11. The start and finish lines will be at The Frontier, 800 Park Offices Drive.

The new location will include a Team Tailgate Zone and an expanded, postrace food truck rodeo.

Organizers called RTP "the heart the Triangle" and noted wide roads and plenty of space for the race to grow.

Registration for the 2016 race opened with Thursday's announcement.
