Quail Ridge Books lines up summer reading programs for kids

These programs can fill up pretty quickly.

Quail Ridge Books is hosting its popular reading groups for kids this summer at the Raleigh bookstore.

The program for kids ages 8 to 10 is full, but (at last check) there remained room in the sessions for kids ages 5 to 7 and 11 to 14. These programs can fill up pretty quickly. Last summer, they took place virtually.

Birds Summer Book Club, for kids ages 5 to 7, will feature four picture books, and take place in July. Parents are expected to stay in the store for the 45-minute afternoon sessions.

The featured books are:

  • Who Ate My Book by Tina Kugler
  • Bug Dipping, Bug Sipping by Marilyn Singer
  • Turtle and Snake Go Camping by Kate Spahn
  • Max & Mo's Science Fair by Patricia Lakin

And Lit Wits Summer Book Club for ages 11 to 14 takes place on five Wednesday evenings starting on June 16.

The featured books are:

  • When Stars Are Scattered by Victoria Jamieson
  • Coyote Sunrise by Dan Gemeinhart
  • Efren Divided by Ernesto Cisneros
  • A Place To Hang the Moon by Kate Albu
  • Howl’s Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones

Book club admission costs $20 and $10 for each additional child. Participants receive 21% off the featured books when purchased via Quail Ridge. More information is on Quail Ridge's website.
