Pullen Park's popular Holiday Express is returning after a two-year hiatus.

The popular, family-friendly event, which can sell out thousands of tickets in under an hour, didn't take place in 2020 due to COVID-19. Then, in 2021, there weren't enough staff to host the event.

The event will be held again in 2022 on Dec. 1-11 and Dec. 13-18 from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Express tickets go on sale at the city of Raleigh's RecLink website at 9 a.m. on Nov. 10, and they are expected to sell out fast based on previous years. The cost per ticket is $15. However, a ticket is not required for anyone 12 months old and younger.

Events this year include a train ride with holiday lights, blizzard boogie dance party, arts and crafts, inflatables and carnival games, a Santa appearance, the carousel, carolers, s’mores and more.

Volunteers are needed. If interested, contact holidayexpress@raleighnc.gov or 919-996-6468.

In Raleigh, the WRAL Nights of Lights will return to Dix Park from Saturday, Nov. 19, through Saturday, Dec. 24. Tickets are on sale now for this drive-thru event. New elements this year include additional large-scale light displays, in-person activations like a personal igloo rental or holiday outpost experience, multiple bike-only nights and a 5K Nights of Lights run/walk.
