Pullen Park offers free, winter-themed, drop-in programs for families

Pullen Park has a series of outdoor drop-in programs at Pullen Park. These don't require registration and are free.

Here's what's scheduled with descriptions courtesy of the city.

Winter Nature Walks

These self-guided nature walks take place on weekdays in January. Pick up a guide book with nature activities. You'll learn about scat and tracks from park animals with a matching game. Participants can earn a prize.

Snowflake Scavenger Hunt

There's no snow yet, but you can take part in a snowflake hunt around the park. Collect letters on each clue to uncover a magic word and receive a prize. It takes place weekdays in January.

The Yeti Hunt

On weekends in January, search for Yeti, who is hidden somewhere at Pullen. Just follow his footsteps and enjoy a Yeti-themed take-home crafts and Yeti storytime at 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.

Howl at the Moon

In the park's Island Gazebo from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., Jan. 27 and Jan. 28, learn about wolves while sitting around a campfire. The Raleigh Fire Department will be providing real fire pits while you learn about wolves and fire safety.

Pullen Park also has a picture book walk for young children. (But note that both the carousel and train are closed at the moment.)
