Authorities are investigating whether a man who attempted to rob a Garner drug store on Saturday struck again in Princeton later that morning.

Around 11:45 a.m., police were called to Woodard's drug store in downtown Princeton after a man armed with an automatic handgun stole $125 and an unknown amount and type of prescription drugs. Witnesses said the man fled on foot toward North Pearl Street and got into a black Nissan Ultima with two women.

The man was described as white, in his mid-50s, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 300 pounds. He was wearing a dark navy baseball cap, black coat and khaki pants, witnesses said.

A man fitting a similar description attempted to rob a Rite-Aid store in Garner shortly after 10 a.m.
