A problem at a Duke Energy substation on Cameron Avenue knocked out power to thousands of homes and businesses in Chapel Hill and Carrboro Wednesday afternoon.
More than 6,100 customers were without power, including a quarter of the University of North Carolina campus, officials said.
Power was restored after about an hour. Officials were trying to determine the cause of the outage.
