A Goldsboro woman was charged late Friday night after shooting a man in the back of the head near a middle school, police said.

Terrena Sutton Graham, 32, of Hines Drive, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill inflicting serious injury and firing a weapon into an occupied vehicle, according to the Goldsboro Police Department. She was jailed under a $100,000 secured bond.

Officers responded just before midnight to a report of a man who was shot in the head in front of Eastern Wayne Middle School. When they arrived, the officers found Darrin Laroche Smith, 31, of Heritage Street, Kinston, suffering from a gunshot wound to the back of his head.

During the investigation, police identified Graham as a suspect and later arrested her.

Police said Smith was taken to a hospital in Greenville, and he is expected to recover from his injuries.
