Police try to identify body found in wooded area in Durham

A tree service worker was doing his job when he stumbled upon a body in the woods on East End Avenue.

Durham police are seeking information about a body found in a wooded area in Durham.

On Friday, Oct. 6, at 8:04 a.m., police said a tree service worker found a body in a wooded area in the 200 block of East End Avenue.

The death is now being investigated as a homicide.

Investigators are unable to identify the body. The victim appears to be a Black male, around 5'2 to 5'4, with a slim build, police said.

He had a green pocket knife in his possession with an unique emblem reading: Rangers: Lead the Way.

Police are sharing a photo of the emblem in hopes someone may recognize it and help identify the body.
