Woman who drove through home charged with traffic violations, child abuse
A Raleigh woman is facing charges after she drove her minivan into the side of her Raleigh townhouse Monday night.
According to a wreck report, Jaleeesa Simone Long, 28, backed out of a parking space across from the home at 1147 Clanton Street and accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
The minivan rolled backwards, hitting a street sign, and eventually rolled downhill through the living room of the home.
Long was charged with reckless driving and failing to comply with restrictions.
Long was also charged with misdemeanor child abuse for leaving four children, ranging from 5-years-old to 8-months-old, unattended when she left the home and got in the car.
None of the children were seriously injured, but all four were taken to WakeMed for evaluation, police said.
