Police: Incident near North Garner Middle puts school on lockdown

North Garner Middle School went into a lockdown on Monday after authorities said they received reports of someone with a gun near the school.

According to the Garner Police Department, officers received a report of a person with a gun on the 100 block of Broughton Street. North Garner Middle School went into a code yellow lockdown due to its proximity to the scene. Police said "evidence of a crime" was found at the location.

Neighbors told WRAL News they heard gunshots from the home on previous occasions.

Authorities said the incident was isolated to a home on Broughton Street, and there was no direct threat to the school.

Pellet gun confiscated at East Cary Magnet Middle School

No injuries were reported and police officers are still investigating the scene.
